- In 2004, Anne Bogart was featured on the acclaimed television show "Women in Theatre" where she discussed how performance studies continue to impact her work.
- Bogart received an Honorary Doctorate from Skidmore College in 2001.
- Bogart was born into a Navy Family that traveled frequently. The longest home she had lived in was Japan for 2.5 years.
In this post you mention the fact that Bogart belonged to a Navy family that moved quite often. I was wondering if frequently moving made things difficult or estranged growing up, and if her family's involvement with the Navy from a young age or any of the places she lived in affected or shaped her work later in life?
ReplyDeleteI think that her constant moving did affect her upbringing. She states that she moved just about every two years and hated the constant change. After a while she would stop forming close bonds with her friends since she knew she would later be torn away from them. In this, she saw books and plays as her comfort and would read all the time. I also believe that being surrounded by Asian culture also affected her work. At her SITI Company, the Suzuki training method incorporates many martial arts and has a heavy Japanese influence!
